Of the girly fantasies and their knights on horses!

Hello marshmallows( just because it rhymed with hello :-( ) .
Such a weird week! It started of with me waking up to the news of a short circuit leading to fire in the basement of my college and ended up with our department winning the "best dept award". We've experienced all sorts of emotions in this turmoil.

So on Friday, mum dragged me to watch a movie she'd been longing to watch for quite sometime now. As I tell the person at the ticket counter to give me 2 seats preferably the ones at the side, he looks up at me... And his face suddenly starts resembling the "smug" looking emoji. Then this "mental conversation" follows. Mental meaning I imagined how it would go.

Tick.guy: 2 side seats eh? I smell louuuv..
Me: the joke is on you! I'm here with mommy
Tg: the joke is still on you... Forever alone..

As I couldn't think of a witty reply I decide to not iniate this weird mental convo...but I sooo wanted to. Don't you have those weird moments when your mind is crazy witty, when you want to publish all your thoughts because you just find them so funny. But being a pucca coward, I'm never up for such challenges.

This weekend, as I was coming back home, we (mum, dad and me) get stuck in a traffic jam. So what's new? Traffic and Mumbai roads go hand in hand.. But this was weird because it was a very local gullee that was jam packed, not a highway. And that was because of a marriage procession.

Most Indian weddings follow this tradition. They have the groom, face hidden by Jasmine gajras hanging vertically from his forehead, seated on a white horse. And all the baratees (groom's relatives) dancing frantically to songs played by a band dressed in red suits .
( if you are an Indian,  you might have pictured this with a background score like "aaj mere yaar ki shadi hai" or "emotional atyachaar" version: instrumental)

Well I have one question. How and why would someone voluntarily put themselves in such an embarrassing situation?! And what is this weird obsession girls have .. I want my man to come to my place on a white horse . I just don't get it. I would rather take to celibacy than getting married to a man who doesn't look down upon this cruel ghodi-business. Had I been the horse, I'd have dropped the groom and kicked a few human asses dancing right in the middle of the street.

Every procession here is just like the one described above. Be it a festive one,  where people carry idols or the bridegroom one.
And it's like they assume it's their birthright to create a jam.
" Apna kaam banta, bhaad mein jae janta"

On their way back to the groom's place, i.e. after the ceremony, the bride also joins them. So you have a very coy looking dulhan, a very uncomfortable dulha and a horde of crazy relatives, the Unclejees throwing currency notes on the too-much-into-dancing youngsters . It's so absurd. Yet it's a very common practice here.

Sigh..girls and their weird obsession.
Even Taylor Swift is obsessed..
" That I'm not a princess,
this ain't a fairy tale,
I'm not the one you'll sweep off her feet, Lead her up the stairwell
This ain't Hollywood,
this is a small town,
I was a dreamer before you went and let me down,
Now it's too late for you and your white horse to come around"

Challenging challenges.

Hello tweedledees!!!
How are you today? Good. Should the answer be anything but good, have faith. It'll all get better.

That is something that has happened with my lil' blog. New readers, new reviews!!! A few months ago it was nothing but a pile of random posts. But random is what is awesome. I can just start with any topic and expect everything and everyone to go with the flow!

So I see so many challenges out there.. On vine, on YouTube, on Facebook, on tumblr. Smoothie challenge, accent challenge, ...
It seems people of the world are into challenges these days.

So I have a little challenge up my sleeve for you guys.
Are you ready?

Now some of you might label it easy, some lame. But a challenge is a challenge nonetheless. And once you accept the t&cs you're in it till you win it.
So the challenge is to make someone smile.  Easy enough? For you... Pff definitely! Could do it with my eyes, nose, ears closed!!!
Serious?

The glitch is... You have to make someone smile everyday and each day it should be a a new person whose day you brighten up.

So did you spot the glitch yet? Yes! It's an ongoing process. It ends the day you fail to make someone smile. That is you forget about it. Because it is very difficult for anybody to not smile in your presence... Right?

So if you're up for it, do a " CHALLENGE ACCEPTED" meme face in the mirror and start.

Your time begins in 3,2,1... Scoot!

Poem 1:

I've never been confident enough to share poems or random stuff I write with a rhyme scheme :-P.
And that is because my pieces are very amateurish. Highly basic. I see, read amazing poetic works online and I'm always awestruck.
But today, just because I don't have a weird talkathonish topic on my mind, I'll be sharing a poem.. Or something of that sort.
Title: Breath
You were nothing like him
The guy I dream of dreaming about;
But your presence in my dream
And the absence of my image of that perfect man,
Makes you the person of my dreams, doesn't it?
Your hands were soft,
Not as soft as your eyes
Eyes so full of love and compassion for any form of life
For some reason my dreams portray me as a damsel in distress
And you were, as the fairytales would have it, my knight in shining armour.
The warmth of your words
That have the power to captivate anybody's soul
They ripped the cage I'd built around my tender heart
And made their way into the delicate zone that exuded nothing but darkness on the outside.
I've never seen anything as beautiful as you
Your mind as pure as untouched pearls.
If only it was real,
What we shared in that dream,
And not just a teenage fantasy
Everything seemed breathtaking
As if the land had been hit by extreme spring beauty during the day
And the night with shiny bokeh lights
As if my whole world, my sheer purpose of being here,  of going through all those past emotions was only so I could find solace in your arms
As if you pump life into me.
Words fail where our relation begins.
A mere glance at you and your comforting smile and I know
Everything is going to be fine.
That I'm going to be okay
As long as you're here and
As long as you're near.
You are what life is to the dying,
What food is to the hungry,
What beauty is to artists
What water is to fishes
You are like breath to me.
With just a glimpse
A tender touch
A gesture to push the strands of hair behind my ears
You pump life into me
Your voice is like the pacemaker for heart,  you make it beat faster with every word you utter.
My stomach does somersaults
Becomes a ballet dancer
When I feel your breath on my skin.
I shiver, goosebumps appear so randomly
Though you are so warm, so real
That everything seems surreal. Unbelievably real..
I know that you live in my fantasies,
I know that my existence might not be of any worth to you..
But I also know that I will breathe only as long as you fuel the fire of my dreams.
You are like breath to me.

Stop making decisions for other - p1

Hello little peepole!
(You do know that I spelled it like that on purpose, don't you?)

So recently, I mean let’s just say from the year 2010 I’ve been noticing this trend among people.
It’s called the Hater trend. Apparently it’s cool to be a hater. No I don’t mean those YouTuber or actor specific haters. I mean misanthropes in general. If you look closely, all of us have a little bit of misanthropist in us. We hate everybody, don’t we? Sometimes? Never??? Pat yourself then, well done …..Who are you kidding there?

I’m actually referring to the demise of Paul Walker as I write this post. And let me tell you, I have absolutely no clue who he is {apart from the fact that he is associated with the “Fast and Furious” movie franchise, movie that might have something to do with cars? I’m guessing (don’t judge)} I don’t plan to Google or watch the movie because it isn’t the genre of movie I’m interested in. I’m more of a rom-comer.
So people worldwide (let me restrict my post to people of my country as I hardly have Facebook friends from other countries) started posting RIP messages which is alright in my POV. But then these haters, damn….haters just have to hate, don’t they?!?

So let us divide the status updaters.
1. People who knew PW and followed the movie and its sequels closely. They were left devastated, shocked and their pain was pretty apparent in the way they were mourning.
2. People who did not know PW, had heard about the franchise and posted a status for him
3. People who had no clue about the movie and the person and still posted a stat.

So, many of the first category people believe it is their and only their right to post RIP statuses for him. :\
Why? What makes you decide that?
Mourning for a person is a sign that you wish well for the person, that somewhere you respect the person and that you mean well for the beloved people that suffered a huge loss due to the deceased’s death. (Can I say that, deceased’s death?  :/ :\)

People cannot decide who people mourn for and who they don’t. God forbid, tomorrow a favorite sport star of yours might get injured or even worse, may quit, retire …etc. you cannot expect the world to go nuts about it. But you cannot also force people to take down updates about them because you believe you are the sole fan. That’s some dumb logic that you’ve got.
Another thing was that people started posting hate messages – no one cares about the friend, no cares about the typhoon affected people, the ones killed in the shoot out….seriously?

People feel for them, it is human nature to feel appalled for them. But it’s up to them to decide who they publicly mourn for. The friend had a family, had PW’s family, had well wishers who knew him well and who wished well for him. People had no clue who was driving and it slipped their mind. Thousands of people die every day...of cancer, aids, because of criminal attacks, calamities. Haters please, go out there and find out names of all the people who die every day and post statuses for them. Why not? Don’t you care about them? Isn’t it harsh on your part to favor a star, star’s friend but not the commoners?

Stop being the ruler, the controller.
The world is not your gaming console and you aren’t in charge of the gaming pads/joysticks.
So chill out.

You are the ruler of your life only. You cannot take away someone’s right to mourn, feel sad. Probably you don’t adore a person, doesn’t mean other’s have to too. There is already too much negativity in the world. Don’t add to the crowd that is just here to increase the weight of the planet.
Contribute, if you can, in a way that people appreciate you or your way of life.
I dislike those people who have a favorite sport, a show or something they follow and they call my obsession of YouTube stupid. Seriously?
What gives you the right to decide that?
I did not post a stat for him but I could see so much hate and negativity all around. Shouldn’t you be happy so many people wish well for your beloved star?
Why are you such a hater?
Where is all that negativity coming from?
Introspect.
And if possible, calm down

Friday!

Been so long since I visited this blog. (Visited.. Not posted on, just visited)

Hey!
It's Friday.
My exams are on. When do I not have exams right? Eh? Eh??
Am getting so bored. Am losing my mind today. Just so irritated don't know why.

No!! You shall not say PMS I forbid you from using that abbr. here.

So I'm seeing this wave of bitstrip comics on Facebook. I'd been behind my friends asking them, no wait.. Begging them to make an avatar 6 months ago. But no.
They just want to always start with a trend when it dies off and only start if some one else and some one much popular is doing it. Herd mentality.. Baa baa.
Bitstrip, btw, is an app on fb that lets you make a comic version of you and post small comic strips of you and other friends having avatars on bitstrip. It is fun.. Initially. But the fun dies once everybody starts posting the same comic template with just different characters.

He's doing it, am going to do the same. Repetition is not cool.. Nah uh!

Point 2. Bitstrips is fun when your avatar looks like you. People here are making versions of themselves the way they would want to be seen and not how they are. It's like comic version of Photoshop or hyperfilter abuse if that was on instagram.. Or something.

If your cartoon doesn't resemble you, those expressions, those jokes won't seem relatable and hence it won't be funny. You are killing the joke. Arrest them officer jokeratti.(so lame, sorry).

But seriously, since when did prepuberty kids start looking so blessed in all the wrong regions.. Frack logic, it's bitstrips right? No.
I took me 2 hrs to make an avatar.  I've a funny nose but I used the one that matches because I want people to recognize that it's me immediately. You can't kid around with a comic avatar that looks like it's right out of bay watch when you are what.. 12? !

That reminds me. I saw a comic that read tgif. Am I the only one that says thank God and then proceeds to sing " it's Friday, Friday.." by R. Black? Please tell me you do that too.. Please please.
Happy thanksgiving and happy weekend to you.

Confidence

Hello.
I'm definitely going to do a confidence part 2,3,4 and so on. But for now, quick thoughts worth mentioning.
So after my recent gig, the one where I started stammering in my interview because I was so full of self doubt and kept looking down upon myself, I started looking around for youtube videos that taught you somehow to improve your confidence.
Today as I was going through my newsfeeds I notice Miley Cyrus's nomination for icon of the year.
Yea, I've liked her page and I did love her in Hannah Montana.
So I start thinking about it and I think she's worth it. Worth the nomination. Atleast she's not full of self doubt. Atleast she's not going underground after  people went on this public display of rage and disguist as a reaction to her recent videos. She still has fans. Still has people who adore her, probably don't look up to her but appreciate her talent (singing) and that's bc she isn't giving up.
To be really honest I do not appreciate the videos, but the songs are good.  People can dislike her stuff but there is absolutely no need for people to go around expressing their disguist in such a cruel manner. Such comments have the power to  break anybody. Anybody.
All her gigs are a different topic or an array of topics but what I want to point out is that..
There will be times when even the most loyal fans and friends of a person may not believe in their work. There might be a time when you have to compete and probably will lose to your friend, there will be people waiting to pull you down or to watch with great enjoyment as life pulls you down. But the true character of a person and the true meaning of life can only be deciphered during such testing times.
Believe in yourself.
I lack self confidence. I might just be the most underconfident person on this planet. But this event, this loss, this rejection should teach me to change that about myself but not to stop trying.
You are your only friend,  closest friend and your  most bitter enemy. You can push yourself into an abyss or pull yourself out of the shittiest hell hole.

Interview

Hey Appiquakes!!!

Today I faced the first interview of my life. It was for the student contingent leader posts and I did not perform well, following which I did not make it through to the next rounds.
Today I'll be telling you about the top 5 things that you should pay heed to during any interview.
In the reverse order.

5. Be brief : No one gives a damn about your life stories. You might have interesting events to talk about, but they don't have the time for it. Do not quote about past instances even if they make perfect sense to you. Be short and precise. Eliminate bullcrap.
For eg: when posed with what I would want to do as a ladies representative, I started quoting about bad events that have happened in colg with my lady friends. So, you can understand the predicament that the interviewer might have faced.

4. Attractive language : Nobody cares about the content. As long as you can show your creative side and prove yourself as an eloquent speaker, you are  safe. People get instantly attracted to good vocab. And nowadays people suffer from "bad listening skills" . So you just have to add a little bit of glitz and you are there.

3. Have a good answer to " Introduce yourself" : That is the standard first question. It determines (Generally) if you have been successful in getting the attention of the interviewer. Grabbing the attention is important. It is important for you to leave a lasting impression,  a good one on him/ her even if it involves a little lying/ drama. Do not brag or show off. Nothing is attractive about it. But do spice the intro up. You sway them at the start and you'll be fine.

2. Be confident : Probably the most difficult task for people like me with hyper anxiety disorder or panic attacks. Confidence is a must. Like I said, your content might just be preposterous but if you exude confidence and sell it to them, they'll buy any platypus shit. All they want to know is how you carry yourself and whether or not you crumble under pressure.
Stage fear runs in my family. My mother is extremely stage sick. So she has always forced me into theatre/oratory competitions/plays/ads so I get rid of the fear. But it's a foe-y-frenemy. It's stuck to me like a conjoined twin at the hip.
Don't screw up. Sometimes you are just the perfect choice. You have to do this confidently to put forth that you deserve it.

And lastly,
1. Think and smile :  We have a tendency of blabbering under the cloudy weathers of anxiety. So when posed with a question, let it sink in, think for a moment, take a deep breath and answer. Just replying on the go makes it a question answer round. You will emerge as a winner if you are able to steer a viva round into an eased and relaxed conversation.
If you hyperventilate, try making too many body gestures, blink a lot, shake a lot, stutter, talk without pausing for breath, it goes out to show that you aren't capable of pulling off your own skin in public.
Imagine your dream company is in college for placement and you are the deserving candidate,  it's a do or die situation. You want it? You've got to shed all your inhibitions and let it out. But be tranquil, calm, serene. Show them you do not crumble under pressure.

You might not be popular or might not have a strong resumé, dynamic persona, excellent grades, co-curricular activities. They all come 2nd in line to confidence and character.

I hope this helps you Appiquettes. I'm going to try and improve myself and my oratory skills. You are free to take tips from the above goof -ups I made.
Goodluck.
Charm them all.
