Hello.
It's 2.05am now in India.
And this random thought just struck me.
In Hindi, tomorrow and yesterday , both are referred to as "kal" .
Yesterday, signifying past, which is irreparable.
Tomorrow, signifying future, something that you can never predict. Even if you do your 100% to plan for a secure future, you can never be too sure of anything.
Only, today is called "Aaj". Which is different from the word kal for yesterday and tomorrow. This points out the difference in the ideas and the basic theory behind dividing time into 3 segments.
You can live now now itself. It is only now that you can experience the present moment and justify its importance by living it to the fullest. It is now or never.
And often somewhere in the middle of our conflict between our utter stubbornness to hold on to the past and our constant desire to make our future better, we forget what we have in our hand. Time. The present moment. Now.
Your child is growing up, learning to speak. There, you missed his/her first word because you were busy building their future.
You cry over a devastating relation. Cry for hours, days, weeks, months, years ...
Miss out on the fact that you are surrounded by people standing for you with arms wide open.
Live in the moment.
I don't. I'm just like you. By the time we realize what we have lost we would be losing out on that moment too because we would be busy thinking about what we could have done with the past.
Oogway wasn't a crazy turtle afterall. Remember this scene
(( Po: Maybe I should just quit and go back to making noodles.
Oogway: Quit, don't quit? Noodles, don't noodles? You are too concerned about what was and what will be. There is a saying: yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the "present." ))
